Kroměříž, Ostrava, Litomyšl…

The turn of May and June was marked by Czech festivals for Tomáš: together with the legendary Concentus Musicus Wien orchestra, he opened the 28th year of the Concentus Moraviae festival with Beethoven’s Eroica, in the newly reconstructed Assembly Hall of the Archbishop’s Castle in his beloved Kroměříž. On Wednesday he performed Dvořák’s Stabat Mater at the Leoš Janáček International Festival, of which he is the president. And yesterday he opened the 65th anniversary year of the Smetana Litomyšl National Festival, conducting the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the great pianist Kirill Gernstein. If you can’t make it to Litomyšl, you should watch ČT Art – the gala concert was broadcast.

The cover photo of this post is not only a memory of the Ostrava performance of Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with great colleagues Simona Šaturová, Václava Krejčí Housková, Richard Samek a Jozef Benci, but also an invitation to today’s performance of the same work in Litomyšl. See the calendar for details and a link to tickets.
