Tomáš takes the podium at Janáček Brno for three special performances
Tonight, Brno’s Janáček Theatre hosts one of the most eagerly anticipated concerts of the 10th edition of the international opera and music festival Janáček Brno. Under Tomáš Netopil’s baton, the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform Béla Bartók’s spirited Dance Suite, Gustav Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer, featuring the outstanding bass-baritone Adam Plachetka as soloist, and a selection of Johannes Brahms’s Hungarian Dances.
If you can’t be at the Janáček Theatre in person tonight, tune in to ČT art at 8 pm to enjoy the concert live!
And tonight’s concert is by no means the end of Tomáš’s collaboration with the ORF orchestra at the festival. Tomorrow, Saturday 24 October, and again on Sunday 25 October, he will conduct two performances of Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen, directed by Jiří Heřman and performed by the Janáček Opera ensemble of the National Theatre Brno. For these two performances, the musicians of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra will exceptionally take their places in the orchestra pit.
