Academy Kroměříž
These days the Academy Kroměříž and Music Festival is taking place in Tomáš’s hometown Kroměříž. It is an extraordinary, increasingly popular summer music event, which Tomáš founded seven years ago and together with a great team of colleagues and foreign and local lecturers has been developing very successfully.
The Academy specializes in teaching students of conservatories and art colleges in the fields of strings, piano, harpsichord and opera singing; the popular music management and piano accompaniment classes are a specialty of Kromeříž.
What attracts students above all are the star names of the teachers: Dalibor Karvay and Fedor Rudin teach violin, Pavel Nikl viola , Michaela Fukačová cello, Ivo Kahánek piano, Barbara Maria Willi harpsichord, Zdeněk Klauda teaches piano accompaniment for opera singers, soprano Kateřina Kněžíková and bass-baritone Adam Plachetka teach opera singing, and David Mareček directs music management classes.
The second pillar of Academy Kroměříž is the music festival, which this year will not only celebrate Czech masters of composition, but will also offer a fusion of folklore and classical music. We can applaud Tomáš at the festival, for example, during the concert on 18/8, when he will conduct the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc and soloists in a programme of Dvořák and Smetana works in the beautiful Assembly Hall of the Archbishop’s Castle, or on 22/8, when Academy Kroměříž will culminate in a concert by the Academy Chamber Orchestra, consisting of students from five countries, with lecturers and selected soloists from the Academy Kroměříž 2024 students.
