From Geneva to Brno. Tomáš conducts Katya Kabanova at the Janáček Brno Festival
On two nights during the 8th Janáček Brno opera and music festival, Tomáš will be at the helm of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, with whom he won over the Geneva audience and the press in October: “With an orchestra that is in great shape, conductor Tomáš Netopil performs miracles,” says the ResMusica website, while ForumOpera praises the fresh Geneva production of Katya as “an exceptional performance, one of those quite unique ones where everything is in perfect harmony: the work with the cast, the direction and the spirited musical staging.“
On Sunday 13 November, Katya Kabanová, a co-production of the Great Theatre of Geneva and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, will be performed under Tomáš’s baton at the Janáček Theatre (detailed information and tickets here). Then on Wednesday 15 November at the Janáček Theatre, Tomáš and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will once again offer not only the suite from The Makropulos Affair, but also Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No.1, featuring the virtuoso Viktoria Mullova (details and tickets here).
